Kneipp instead of calories – Bavaria

Now in the Advent season the cribs are in season again, and those who want to see the traditional events from the Christmas story recreated with small wooden figures can, for example, have a look at the crib in the old parsonage in Piding in Upper Bavaria. It even stands there all year round, including the crucifixion on Good Friday. The municipality of Piding, whose tourist information is located directly under the crib on the ground floor of the old rectory, rightly lists the crib as one of its sights, next to Staufeneck Castle, which is inaccessible to the public, a couple of alpine pastures for excursions, the milk shop of the Berchtesgadener-Land- Dairy and the local tennis club, which according to the list even has “a Swedish-run tennis school”. The Kneipp pool at the castle has now been added as a new attraction – at last, because until you can tread water in the freshly renovated pool, kicks in the buttocks and shins were only exchanged for years. With the inclusion in the list of sights it was now very quick. Because the local fast food had to go down urgently.

Because the fact that the branch of an American burger chain represented practically all over the world should be one of its few sights seemed to be a bit embarrassing to the community, which applies as “the hospitable village in the Rupertiwinkel”. The matter had uncovered the responsible Reichenhaller Tagblattwhich gave its readers the description of the “cozy and at the same time stylish restaurant atmosphere”. The local licensee of the burger chain would probably not contradict this. He could himself and that Tagblatt but also doesn’t really explain how his fast food restaurant got on the list in the first place. Nobody explained it at all. In return, the alleged excursion restaurant in the hospitable village was deleted from the list almost faster than a day trippers could extract all the nutrients from, just for example, a double whopper. The restaurant certainly attracts more people than the crib and the Kneipp pool combined. In case Piding needs a real crowd puller for his list again: There is always a lot of traffic at the motorway filling station.
