He is one of the most famous news TV anchors and is retiring in the summer. It is now clear who will follow RTL anchorman Peter Kloeppel.

RTL has named a new news team to succeed decades-long anchorman Peter Kloeppel. The journalist Roberta Bieling (49) and the journalist Christopher Wittich (40) will be the news anchors of “RTL Aktuell” in the summer, as the television company in Cologne announced. Anna Fleischhauer (36) and Andreas von Thien (57) are in charge of the sports area. This means that the private broadcaster RTL fills the positions from within its own company and does not bring in anyone from outside.

It was recently announced that TV journalist Kloeppel (65) would be leaving his role as anchorman in August. He has been the chief presenter of “RTL Aktuell” since 1992. The main program is broadcast daily at 6:45 p.m. There are also other editions of the show in the program. Kloeppel’s sports colleague Ulrike von der Groeben (66) is also quitting.

Bieling joined “RTL Aktuell” as a presenter in the summer of 2022. Since 2006 she has presented the lunchtime journal “Point 12”. Wittich has been heading the studio in Washington since May 2022 and reports for RTL and ntv. Since August 2021 he has also sometimes been part of the moderation team of “RTL Aktuell”. For several years he also worked as a presenter for the RTL news channel ntv.

Fleischhauer has been a sports presenter for “RTL Aktuell” since summer 2021. Von Thien has been a sports presenter on “RTL Aktuell” since 1997. He has been heading the sports department of the RTL news area since summer 2020.
