The new season “Kitchen Impossible” starts on February 12th on VOX. Fans can look forward to these innovations.

From February 12 there will be cursing, traveling and cooking again: TV chef Tim Mälzer (52) will appear in the eighth season of “Kitchen Impossible” (Sundays at 8:15 p.m. on VOX and via RTL+) again against highly decorated colleagues. As in the previous seasons, the chefs are drawn to distant countries. But there are also some novelties waiting for the viewers.

Cooking for the national team

In the eighth season of “Kitchen Impossible” things are happening again. As previously announced by the broadcaster, this time there are a few challenges – including cooking for the German national soccer team, outside in the stone oven or in Europe’s first underwater restaurant. In a total of eight episodes, Tim Mälzer and his opponents travel around the world again. Among other things, Costa Rica, France, Sweden, Singapore, Serbia, the USA and Argentina are on the itinerary.

New chefs are starting out

There are chefs who have competed in Tim Mälzer’s cooking show several times. These include Roland Trettl (51), Alexander Hermann (51), Max Strohe (41) and Tim Raue (48). But in season eight, many new faces are waiting for the viewers: Walter and Sascha Stemberg, the couple Elif Oskan and Markus Stöckle, Thomas Bühner (61), René Frank (39), Edi Frauneder (born 1977), Philipp Vogel ( 41) and Graciela Cucchiara. At Cucchiara, the Swiss top chef Sven Wassmer (36) had to cook a special lasagna last season. Now the chef with Italian roots is at the stove herself on the show.

One special chases the other

For the first time in the “Kitchen Impossible” story, Tim Mälzer takes on two people twice in the new episodes: the father-son duo Stemberg and the couple Oskan and Stöckle. But not only that: There are also two special episodes on top. For one, an entire episode takes place in the United States. Mälzer sent Edi Frauneder to Washington and New Orleans on March 26, Mälzer in turn to New York City and Kansas City.

The season finale, a “Best Friends Edition”, will take place on April 2nd. In it, Tim Mälzer, Tim Raue and Hans Neuner compete against each other. Each sends the others to a place of their choice. Mälzer and Neuner compete against each other in Greece, Raue and Neuner in Munich and Mälzer and Raue in Norway.

The concept of “Kitchen Impossible”

In “Kitchen Impossible”, two chefs usually compete against each other. Each sends the other to two countries. A local specialty has to be cooked there without a recipe or special knowledge. Guests, friends or the local chef’s family then taste the dish and rate how close it is to the original. Whoever has the better overall rating at the end wins.

The concept has already been nominated twice for the Grimme Prize, and the show has also won the German Television Prize twice. There was also a nomination for the Golden Camera in 2018. The first season flickered across the screens in 2016.
