Thunderstorms with strong winds and hail caused numerous operations in Swabia on Saturday afternoon. A beer tent was knocked over in Kissing near Augsburg. According to the police, around twelve people were injured, six of them seriously. When the storm hit, they were busy setting up the tent and were still trying to hold onto it – they were injured in the process. 20 other construction workers were uninjured. The police initially spoke of around 30 injuries.
Also in Kissing there was a debris field made of wooden slats. Here the wind had obviously covered the roof of a retirement home. The wooden slats were spread out in the parking lot in front of the building. The residents had to be evacuated late into the night, the reported Bavarian radio.

The police headquarters in Swabia North also reported on numerous other operations. It was mainly a flooded basement and fallen trees. The police also reported pedestrians injured by hailstones. An elderly woman fell because of the hail.
The Plärrer folk festival began in Augsburg on Saturday. Due to the heavy rain, people flocked from the site in the evening. Because trees fell on lines, there were disruptions in Augsburg’s local transport.
Parts of Upper Bavaria were also badly hit by the storm. For the administrative district, the DWD had declared the highest of four warning levels on Saturday evening. The southern part of the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district was particularly hard hit by the storm. The police reported numerous traffic accidents with at least six people injured. Numerous roofs and windows were destroyed. Animals such as deer and storks were sometimes fatally injured by the hail. Streams overflowed, bridges were no longer passable. The storm raged particularly hard in the areas of Bichl, Kochel, Lenggries, Wackersberg and Arzbach. In the monastery village of Benediktbeuern, almost no house is said to have a roof.
The A 95 was closed in the evening between Penzberg and Kochel, an SZ reporter reports of hailstones the size of a table tennis ball, which also fell there. Windows and car panes are said to have been destroyed, and uprooted trees were also reported.
Bad Bayersoien in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen was particularly badly hit. There, 150 roofs were severely damaged, photovoltaic systems were punctured with hailstones and car windows were severely damaged. reports the Bayerischer Rundfunk.
A police spokesman reported 100 operations in the area of the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria North. At first there were no injuries. Mainly underpasses and basements filled up and trees snapped off.

In Lower Bavaria, a house burned down after a lightning strike. The fire had spread on Saturday, shortly after the lightning struck, initially on the upper floor of the family home in Salzweg in the Passau district. As the police announced on Sunday, all residents were able to escape from the building. The 43-year-old owner was slightly injured trying to put out the fire himself. There was damage of around 320,000 euros.
According to the police headquarters in Lower Bavaria, around 230 emergency calls were received in the operations center on Sunday night, among other things because of flooding on the streets, full basements, roads blocked by fallen trees and damaged cars.
