An eleven-year-old boy set fire to the confessional in a church in Kissing (Aichach-Friedberg district). In addition, the child smoked chairs and paper in the incident in the Swabian community on Saturday afternoon, as the Friedberg police station announced on Monday.
Fire did not break out, but the boy caused burn and soot stains in the parish church of St. Bernhard. The police estimated the damage at 1000 euros. What drove the child to do this is unknown.
It is now being investigated for attempted arson. In the case of adult offenders, arson in churches, apartments and ships is punished more severely according to the penal code than starting a fire in other buildings, but the eleven-year-old is still under criminal responsibility.
