Simmons still plays the role of the tongue-in-cheek demon on the bass in the rock band, which is equipped with make-up, costume armor and fireworks. And over the decades he has also become a comic figure, a brand ambassador, a business coach and a model capitalist. Kiss sold around 100 million records, became one of the most successful bands in the world, was reliably panned by critics and loved above all by the fans organized as “Kiss Army”. They are currently on a worldwide farewell tour that started in 2019. “Creatures of the Night”, an album from 1982, has just been re-released in a lavish reissue, with five CDs, Blu-ray and a box full of accompanying material. Gene Simmons, 73, Israeli with Hungarian roots, wants to talk about it when he logs into the video chat from Los Angeles.
