Kirchseeon mourns the loss of the Green local councilor Bernhard Buckl. “We got to know and appreciate him as an open, humorous and, especially in financial matters, very committed colleague and friend,” writes the party in its obituary. Because Buckl was a newcomer to the Kirchseeon municipal council, he had only held his mandate since 2020. At 73, he was the oldest member of the board and well on the way to becoming his good soul. Bernhard Buckl often spoke up, showed great interest in local political issues, without ever being brushed on to cause a riot.
He focused his commitment in Kirchseeon on railway noise and the preservation of nature and the landscape. But as a graduate in business administration, he also wanted to contribute ideas and solutions for reducing local government debt. “In addition, transparency and openness between the municipal council and citizens is important to me,” it said on his agenda. The Kirchseeoner Grünen lose “a competent and committed person, for whom the environment and nature conservation was a matter close to his heart”.
Bernhard Buckl grew up in Munich. As a manager in a large bank, he was initially very busy with work and family. But when he retired ten years ago, he used his free time for sporting activities and was involved in two working groups in his home community, among other things for the “protection of the south of Kirchseeon”. In 2019, at the age of 71, Buckl fulfilled a childhood dream and paddled on the Danube from Ingolstadt to the Black Sea in Romania.
A journey that says a lot about these people: Those who kayak thousands of kilometers across the Danube with its ten neighboring countries get to know many people and cultures. And this experience was obviously worth Buckl’s every effort. He returned home with many beautiful and adventurous memories, but also with reports about the critical environmental situation in the Balkans. Above all, he was impressed by the joie de vivre of the people there: “They have a certain contentment, are often calmer and don’t take things so seriously. I try to keep it that way,” he told SZ Ebersberg at the time.
Bernhard Buckl had big plans for his time as a municipal councillor. In this sense, his parliamentary group colleagues promise: “In the forthcoming projects for Kirchseeon, we will always act in the spirit of Bernhard and incorporate his inspiration.”
