Kirchheimer Hauptstrasse is relocated – District of Munich

Work on the new local park in Kirchheim, which should be completed by the State Garden Show in 2024, is progressing. The municipality is currently implementing a measure that will make the changes that lie ahead of the place in the coming years clearly visible: The previous main road in the Heimstettner Strasse section to Ludwigstrasse will be cut – where there were until recently cars will soon be cut Shores of the large park lake are created. Because the local park should be completely car-free, as stated in a press release from the local government. You should only be able to cross the approximately one kilometer long recreational area on foot or by bike.

The former Ludwigstrasse will in future become the new main street. The two districts of Kirchheim and Heimstetten are connected via Parkallee, the new roundabout on Staatsstraße and Rathausstraße. According to the municipal administration, the costs for the dismantling of the old main road will be borne by the private developers. “The measure is based on a proposal from the city,” says Mayor Maximilian Böltl (CSU). “The idea increases the quality of our park enormously.”

Not only the cycle route through the local park is intended to strengthen cycle traffic in the village. With the Kirchheim 2030 infrastructure project, three additional footpaths and cycle paths will be created over the state road. The connections on Wacholderweg and Parkallee should be ready for the State Garden Show in 2024.
