Kirchheim – Should the district of Munich present itself in a beer tent? – District of Munich

The district of Munich is a high-tech region and at the same time, as the immediate surroundings, the green, rural Bavarian side of the world-famous Munich brand. In 2024, a state garden show will take place in Kirchheim, at which the district will present itself in a pavilion. The two Social Democrats, Wolfgang Panzer and Alexander Greulich, mayors in Unterhaching and Ismaning, were the only ones who, to the surprise of the other district councillors, proposed that the district should present itself in a beer tent for cost reasons, instead of in an innovative wooden building, which would also stand for the pioneering role , in which the district sees itself in the energy transition. What does Kirchheim think of such an idea? Shouldn’t you also place beer benches with white and blue checkered paper tablecloths? Beer would be served in beer mugs. And for catering, a chicken fryer would be an option. Mayor Maximilian Böltl remains factual in the SZ interview on the subject.

SZ: Would a beer tent be suitable to represent the district at the state garden show in Kirchheim?

Maximilian Böltl: From May to October 2024 we will be home to around 50 exhibitors on the grounds of the State Garden Show. The district of Munich naturally plays a very central role in this. Thanks to the district’s contribution, not only should the guests from Munich, Bavaria and beyond get to know the district in all its diversity. The contribution also offers the unique opportunity to clearly present the many regional environmental and mobility projects to our district citizens from all 29 municipalities. The contribution can also offer a platform for the district’s partners, such as the construction company, the energy agency or the European Metropolitan Region (EMM).

The beer tent solution would be at least relatively cheap. Is that an understandable argument?

The district’s contribution should also be the place for the active participation of the 29 municipalities. And thus create identity. Our idea is that as many municipalities as possible organize their own week with their clubs, schools, companies and citizens. This requires good spatial equipment, which is now being designed according to the ideas of the district committees. And we need the employee capacity to bring all the ideas and suggestions together conceptually and organizationally and then fill the contribution with a lot of life.
