The fire early Thursday morning in a commercial building in Kirchheim apparently started with a defective battery for electric scooters. Fire investigators from the Munich criminal police came to this conclusion based on initial findings. According to the police, lithium-ion batteries used for e-scooters are usually stored in the hall. The fire brigade and police had to bring several people to safety from an apartment adjacent to the hall complex. The extinguishing measures dragged on for several hours, a large contingent of fire brigade and rescue workers were deployed. According to the police, the material damage to the warehouse amounts to several hundred thousand euros. Contrary to initial reports, no one was injured.
