The German Formula 1 racing team, Mercedes, has ended its cooperation after public criticism of a new sponsorship contract with a building materials company. The Irish manufacturer Kingspan is associated with the Grenfell Tower fire disaster in 2017. The racing team announced that both sides had unanimously decided to end the partnership. They had “subsequently come to the conclusion that a continuation of the partnership, despite the intended positive effects, was not appropriate at this point in time”. Grenfell United, an initiative of the bereaved and survivors of the disaster, welcomed the news.
