King Harald and the Norwegian royals send Easter greetings to the world with a new family photo. Two details are particularly noticeable.

King Harald of Norway (87) puts recent health problems behind him and beams in the touching family portrait that the palace took to mark the start of Easter celebrations in Oslo published on Instagram, among other things.

A happy monarch and his very tall grandson

While the monarch and his wife Sonja (86) sat down on two chairs at the front, the next royal generation and the one after that – also beaming – stood behind the two: Crown Prince Haakon (50), his wife Crown Princess Mette-Marit (50), hers Daughter Princess Ingrid Alexandra (19) and her son Prince Sverre Magnus (18). The latter has now overtaken his father in size.

It is the first official portrait since Harald had a pacemaker implanted at Oslo University Hospital earlier this month after falling ill during a private holiday in Malaysia. Harald was “doing well,” the royal family said in a short statement at the time, and he was on sick leave until April 8th. His son, Crown Prince Haakon, has since taken over the duties of the king. Although the operation wasn’t long ago, the king appeared relaxed and happy in the family photo.

“The Royal Family wishes everyone a Happy Easter. The King and Queen and the Crown Prince Family have gathered in Bygdø Kongsgård at the beginning of Easter Week,” the caption reads.

Norway’s royals in casual clothing

For the photo, the family dressed in decidedly casual clothing. Haakon wears a light vest over a light shirt. Crown Princess Mette-Marit poses in a chic ensemble consisting of a cream satin blouse and black trousers.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra, who began her military training earlier this year, shows her sense of style in an oversized gray blazer with casual black jeans. And Prince Sverre Magnus looks into the camera in a green and blue striped shirt.

His grandfather Harald wears a beige V-neck sweater over wine-red corduroy trousers and his grandmother wears an elegant combination of vest and trousers in dark green with a delicate pink pussy-bow blouse with floral prints underneath.
