Charles III has welcomed heads of state to a grand reception at Buckingham Palace. US President Joe Biden was also there.
Heads of state and high-ranking dignitaries from around the world gathered at London’s Buckingham Palace on Sunday evening, where they were welcomed by King Charles III. (73) were welcomed. The event leading up to the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) on Monday (September 19) has been dubbed the “reception of the century” by observers, writes the “Daily Mail”.
According to British media reports, US President Joe Biden (79) and First Lady Jill Biden (71) were among the around 500 guests in the palace. French President Emmanuel Macron (44) and his wife Brigitte (69) were also there and met the new British Prime Minister Liz Truss (47). Ursula von der Leyen (63), President of the European Commission, came with her husband Heiko (67). Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier (66) is said to have appeared at Buckingham Palace. New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern (42) and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (50) were also among the guests.
