Even more good news from the British royal family: After Princess Kate (42), she will also be king on Monday afternoon Charles III (75) has been released from hospital, according to Buckingham Palace.
“The King was discharged from hospital this afternoon following scheduled medical treatment,” says the official statement. Photos also show the king leaving the clinic alongside his wife, Queen Camilla (76). Apparently in a good mood: in the pictures, the monarch smiles and waves relaxedly to the crowd and the photographers.
King Charles III thanks for the support
In the statement, the King also expresses his thanks to the clinic’s employees: “His Majesty would like to thank the medical team and everyone who supported him during his hospital stay,” it says. He is also “grateful for all the friendly messages he has received in the last few days.”
King Charles III had undergone an operation last Friday (January 26th) at the private clinic in London due to an enlarged prostate. As was announced on Friday, Charles had survived the operation well and only remained in the hospital to recover.
But this break will probably last a while: As the palace also writes, the king’s next public appearances will be postponed so that he can recover.
Princess Kate released a few hours earlier
This means that there are now two British royals who have been allowed to return home. Just a few hours earlier, Princess Kate had been released from the same London clinic. Kensington Palace announced on Monday afternoon, the Princess of Wales is back home in Windsor. She is also said to be continuing to recover from her operation. She had been in the hospital for 14 days.
It is not known what exactly Princess Kate’s medical problem was. Only the information that it was an abdominal operation was shared. Kate said she would like her “personal medical information to remain private,” the palace said.
