After William and Kate, King Charles and Queen Camilla have now also spoken out about the attack in Sydney.

King Charles III (75) and Queen Camilla (76) stand by the Australians after the attack in a shopping center in Sydney. “My wife and I were deeply shocked and devastated to hear of the tragic stabbing in Bondi,” says a statement on Instagram.

And further: “Our condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who were so brutally killed in this senseless attack.” Their thoughts are also “with those who were involved in providing assistance and we thank the bravery of the first responders and emergency services.” The statement is signed “Charles R”, for the Latin “Rex” (German “King”).

As a member of the Commonwealth, Australia has the British King Charles III. (75) as head of state. Despite his cancer diagnosis, which he made public at the beginning of February, the monarch wants to go on a two-week state visit Down Under this year.

William and Kate also speak out

Prince William (41) and Princess Kate (42) had previously expressed their condolences to the victims and their families in a short statement: “We are shocked and saddened by the terrible events in Sydney this morning. Our thoughts are with everyone affected, including the families of the victims and the heroic rescue workers who risked their own lives to save others. it says in an X post.

On Saturday afternoon (local time) a man attacked around nine people with a knife in a shopping center in Sydney. Six people died as a result of the attack. A nine-month-old baby was among the injured. The alleged perpetrator was then caught by the police, shot and died. According to the police, there was initially no evidence of a motive or ideology.
