Killed senior citizen in Müncheh-Laim: search for causes after traffic light accident – Munich

According to the traffic police’s initial findings, the fatal accident at Willibaldplatz in Laim on Monday afternoon was probably due to carelessness on the part of both road users. At around 1:55 p.m., a 71-year-old woman from Munich came under the left front wheel of a semi-trailer and was run over by it. She sustained such serious injuries that she died at the scene of the accident despite first aid measures being administered immediately by witnesses and attempts at resuscitation by the emergency services that arrived.

As the police announced on Tuesday, a 35-year-old truck driver was driving his tractor-trailer and semi-trailer out of town on Agnes-Bernauer-Straße and stopped at the traffic lights at the intersection with Willibaldstraße due to traffic. At the moment the traffic light turned green, the woman wanted to cross the street between the waiting vehicles, presumably to get to the tram stop in the middle of the road. The 71-year-old was hit by the approaching semi-trailer. The driver then had to be looked after by the crisis intervention team.
