According to the authorities, several people were killed in Russian air raids in western Ukraine during the night. At least three people died in the city of Lutsk, said the head of the administration of the Volyn region, Yuriy Pohulyaiko. Several injured were taken to hospitals.
The city of Lviv and its environs were also hit. In Lviv, 15 people were injured, said the regional governor, Maxym Kosytskyi. 40 buildings were damaged. Mayor Andrij Sadowyj showed in a video a deep bomb crater that is said to have formed on the grounds of a kindergarten. According to Sadovy, rockets hit apartment buildings on several streets. “There’s a fire on the upper floors. We’re evacuating people,” he said.
The affected areas of western Ukraine border on Poland and thus on NATO and the EU. So far, Lviv has been the target of attacks comparatively rarely, most recently in July, when ten people died in Russian air raids.

During the night there was an air alert over the whole of Ukraine. 24 cruise missiles of various types were fired by Russian fighter bombers over the Caspian Sea, the Ukrainian Air Force said in the morning.
