According to official information, several people were killed in the most recent attack on Kiev on Thursday night, including two children. Over a dozen others were injured.
At least three people, including two children, were killed in a Russian rocket attack on Kiev, according to Ukrainian authorities. “According to the doctors, there are now 14 injured in the Dniprovsky and Desnyansky districts, nine had to be hospitalized,” said Mayor Vitali Klitschko on Thursday morning on his Telegram channel.
According to the military administration in Kiev, the city was attacked with ground-based missiles around 3 a.m. local time (2 a.m. CEST). Although they were shot down by anti-aircraft guns, the debris resulted in many casualties and extensive damage.
Ukraine may have intercepted Russian missiles over Kiev
“It’s Children’s Day. And the racists are launching another attack on our capital and killing. Killing Ukrainian children,” Kyiv’s military administration chief Serhiy Popko wrote on his Telegram channel. The word “racists” is a combination of “Rasha”, as Russia is pronounced in English, and fascist. It has been used as a swear word for the Russian occupiers in Ukraine since the beginning of the war.
The Ukrainian general staff announced on Facebook in the morning that Russia carried out the attack on Kiev with ten Iskander missiles. All ten missiles were destroyed by anti-aircraft defense. The Iskander is considered a short-range missile. According to military experts, however, their range can be increased to far more than the specified 500 kilometers. The rocket can be equipped with both conventional and nuclear warheads.
