Controversial actor Kevin Spacey has landed his first role since winning the molestation trial.

In October, two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey (63) was found not guilty by a New York jury. His fellow actor Anthony Rapp (51) had accused him of sexually harassing him when Rapp was just 14 years old. Now reports the US industry magazine “Variety”that Spacey was able to book his first role since his legal victory. Spacey takes on a speaking role in the independent thriller “Control” by British director Gene Fallaize (38).

That’s what “Control” is about

In Spacey’s new film, British Minister Stella Simmons (Lauren Metcalfe) is involved in an affair with the Prime Minister (Mark Hampton). When Simmons gets into a self-driving car, it is suddenly hacked and they are kidnapped inside. Spacey will voice the mysterious person taking control of the vehicle. According to Variety, the role can be compared to Kiefer Sutherland’s performance in the thriller Don’t Hang Up! from the year 2002.

Director Fallaize raves about Kevin Spacey

The film’s director called Spacey “one of the greatest actors of our generation”. Fallaize “cannot comment” on Spacey’s personal life because he has “no knowledge” of it. The filmmaker is excited about the “opportunity to work with an acting titan.”

Since the allegations against Spacey became known in 2017, he has only appeared in the two feature films “Billionaire Boys Club” (2018) and “L’uomo che disegnò Dio” (2022). The actor will soon be seen in the already completed “Peter Five Eight” and “Gore”. In addition, Spacey will have to answer in court in London next year for sexual assault. The charges in the trial were expanded just weeks ago after Spacey faces allegations of seven more sexual assaults against a man, including coercion.

The former series star also has to pay around 31 million US dollars to the production company of the series “House of Cards” for breach of contract. Spacey violated the production company’s sexual harassment policy during the production of the Netflix series.
