Over two million views on YouTube: What’s behind the trailer for a third part of the “Kevin” series with Macaulay Culkin?

It was sold 2.2 million times Already viewed on YouTube: A trailer for the film “Home Alone 3 – Kevin’s Revenge” announced for 2024 is currently causing a sensation. Is the Kevin series with Macaulay Culkin (43) really getting a late third part?

Unfortunately not. The clip is just a parody, as can be read in the title of the video. The makers pieced together the teaser for “Kevin’s Revenge”, as the German translation would read, from various sources.

We see scenes from the original “Home Alone” from 1990 and, above all, a commercial for Google Home from 2018. In it, Macaulay Culkin played an adult version of Kevin McCallister, who effortlessly keeps burglars away with Google’s smart home device . The fake trailer also contains sequences from “American Horror Story”. Culkin appeared in the series’ tenth season in 2021.

The “wet bandits” want revenge on Kevin

The story of “Home Alone 3 – Kevin’s Revenge”: The “wet bandits” Harry (Joe Pesci, 80) and Marv (Daniel Stern, 66) are released from prison after 30 years. They only have one thing on their minds: revenge against Kevin McCallister. He turns the tables and breaks into the burglars’ house himself (these scenes come from “American Horror Story”). Kevin ends up barricading himself in his house, with weapons, explosives and, as in Home Alone, “possibly tarantulas,” according to a news report.

Fake voiceover recordings give the scenes taken out of context a new meaning. The adult Kevin complains to his mother that she left him alone and that he had to defend the house at the age of eight. Which accurately sums up the plot of the original in an almost sad way.

Fans are calling for the fake trailer to be filmed

Fans of the “Kevin” series are thrilled by the artfully edited fake trailer. In the comments on YouTube they demand that the story should actually be made into a film.

By the way, there is actually a third part of “Home Alone”. It was made in 1997 without Macaulay Culkin and the other stars of the first films – but with a young Scarlett Johansson (39).

Part four followed in 2002, again with a completely new cast. After a Canadian reboot from 2012, “Not Home Alone Again” followed on Disney+ in 2021. In it, Devin Ratray (46) played the adult Buzz McCallister, Kevin’s nasty brother. Excerpts from this film can also be seen in “Home Alone 3 – Kevin’s Revenge”.
