Kerstin Ekman’s 90th birthday – Culture

Kerstin Ekman, the grande dame of contemporary Swedish literature, is turning 90 – and her latest novel about hunting is coming out just in time.

Since her crime debut in 1959, Kerstin Ekman has written more than 20 novels, numerous essays, film and television screenplays, which are very often about killing, but above all about how to talk about it. She shows this very impressively, for example, in her award-winning novel “Geschehnisse am Wasser” (1995), in which she describes the social upheaval triggered by a double murder. Under the title “Blackwater – In the shadow of the past” the material can currently be seen as a six-part television series.
