Käthe Kollwitz Graphics and Bronzes in Frankfurt – Culture

Some people are so loved and so hated that they almost threaten to disappear behind all the distorted images that others paint of them. Käthe Kollwitz is such a person. A German myth. Sometimes a social revolutionary, sometimes a mother. She is supposed to embody the conscience of the early 20th century and is supposed to stand up against all the dark spirits of old Germany: Kollwitz, the merciful one, the pacifist, the unbending one.
