A photo glitch caused a shitstorm for William and Kate. Now the royal couple wants to make amends. But Kate probably won’t return to the public anytime soon.
Now Kate and William are apparently trying to limit the damage. The couple’s youngest son, Prince Louis, will celebrate his sixth birthday on April 23rd. Despite the fuss that the Mother’s Day photo caused, is expected according to “The Sunday Times”., that William and Kate are keeping up the tradition of posting new pictures of their children on their birthdays. “They value the public’s love and affection for their children and know that the public wants to see them on their birthdays,” a royal aide was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
According to the report, the couple hopes that this picture will cause less of a stir than the Mother’s Day photo. The “wild and unfounded conspiracy theories” on social media about Kate’s health and the state of her marriage due to the “missing wedding ring” in the picture “have devastated her,” it says. According to the newspaper, a friend insists that Kate meant no harm by editing the picture: “It’s a photo that she knew everyone would look at, so she edited it herself – she likes to try to please the family to look as good as possible.” Kate later apologized publicly and said: “Like many amateur photographers, I occasionally experiment with editing.”
Kate doesn’t return until after Easter
The palace’s statement following Kate’s operation in January said Kate was expected back after Easter. Now the “Sunday Times” also reports that this means the end of their children’s school holidays, not the Easter weekend. The children will return to Lambrook School on April 17th. Insiders assume that Kate will take on public tasks again from this point on. William will also take time off from public duties during his children’s Easter holidays, according to the Sunday Times. When Kate returns, she could also explain more about her time off. According to the Times, people close to her believe she will reveal more information about her recovery in due course, “but on her terms.”
