Kästner anniversary: Munich reading by Norbert Wollschläger – Munich

Erich Kästner and Kurt Tucholsky are on vacation – and coincidentally in the same Swiss hotel. The two grand masters of polished words both stayed in a luxury hotel on Lake Maggiore in 1930. And surprisingly, it is the only time that the two famous writers and publicists meet.

Norbert Wollschläger was inspired to write a book by this meeting. “Wetterluminene. The Decade of Playful Freedom” is the name of the novel that will be published on the occasion of Kästner’s anniversary by Franz Westner’s small SalonLiteraturVerlag in Munich and will be presented in the Literaturhaus. After Tobias Roller’s “The Gold Hill”, it is the second new novel that has Kästner staying in the hotel – with the difference that Wollschläger’s novel takes place much earlier, before the National Socialists came to power. But the lightning is already obvious.

Norbert Wollschläger: Weatherlights, reading, Wednesday, February 21st, 7 p.m., Literaturhaus, library, tickets: box office or salonliteraturverlag.de.
