Karlsruhe: ICE derailed – exclusive photos from the accident

On Thursday morning there was a train accident in Karlsruhe at around 9.30 a.m.: A train driver was just about to move his ICE to maneuver inside the main station – the expensive train ran onto an incorrectly set switch and derailed. Of the star received exclusive photos of the derailed train and the scene of the accident.

Only railroad workers on board – the accident ends without any injuries

Lucky in misfortune: Since the ICE was only to be shunted, there were no people on board at the time of the accident apart from the railway worker. Even the train driver was lucky: he too was uninjured in the accident and escaped with a fright.

The cause of the accident was apparently a switch that was turned during the shunting process. As a result, the rear part of the train was lifted off the tracks.

ICE accident in Karlsruhe: No delay in the schedule despite the derailed train

The accident did not end well for travelers either: at the time of the accident, the ICE was being moved in a so-called siding far away from regular rail traffic. The accident did not result in any delays or disruptions in the normal schedule of the railway.

The accident still has unpleasant consequences for Deutsche Bahn. The ICE has not yet been recovered and will initially be absent from normal driving service. Train accident experts have now taken on the case and will also decide how the express train can be put back on track.

However, the exact cause of the accident has not yet been finally clarified and has yet to be determined. The extent of the damage to Deutsche Bahn has also yet to be determined.
