Karlsplatz S-Bahn station: Woman presses emergency call – four people locked in elevator – Munich

Three adults and a child were locked in an elevator at Munich’s Karlsplatz (Stachus) S-Bahn station on Monday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. because an older woman apparently accidentally pressed the emergency call button. Those trapped had to wait in the elevator for about 45 minutes before they were freed by the fire department.

As the federal police announced, video recordings showed that an older woman, accompanied by a man who was obviously disabled, had pressed the emergency call on the platform. A police spokeswoman suspected that she may have wanted to press the call button for the elevator underneath. Instead, she pushed in the window on the emergency call and triggered it; She then left with her companion.

The federal police assume it was an oversight, but are still investigating property damage and misuse of emergency calls. The fire department was able to reset the alarm, but the elevator was temporarily taken out of service.
