Karlsfeld: By car to the vaccination – Dachau

What feels like an eternity was actually only a few weeks ago: the two vaccination centers in the district – the one on Rotkreuzplatz in Dachau, operated by the BRK, and the one operated by the Johanniter on Lake Karlsfelder See – were closed at the end of September. From October, so the unanimous opinion at the time, vaccination of the rural population should be accomplished by means of mobile vaccination teams. Two weeks ago, the Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) then backed down and ordered all vaccination centers to be operational again.

District Administrator Stefan Löwl (CSU) initially did not want to know anything about it and continued to insist on the decentralized and local solutions. But now the district has also come to terms, and so a so-called “drive-through vaccination station” is currently being built on Lake Karlsfelder See. It is scheduled to go into operation on Tuesday, November 7th.

125 helpers in action

Both the fire brigades in the district and the technical relief organization (THW) are entrusted with the construction. After a week of intensive planning and preparation work began last Saturday on the parking lot at Karlsfelder See. “The basic idea of the conception is that those who want to be vaccinated can drive through the facility from registration to vaccination to waiting after vaccination without leaving their own vehicle – waiting times without outdoor protection should be avoided”, says the conception in a press release from the district fire brigade association.

So that the vaccination station can actually be put into operation promptly, the volunteers have set up ten office and residence containers for the vaccination staff, vaccine preparation and security services. In addition, the unpaved driveways were filled in and compacted so that, as in the previous year, there are no muddy paths on which older people or those with a disability can hardly walk. In addition, a 250 square meter weather protection roof was built over the five registration lanes and an approximately 350 square meter tent system for the two vaccination streets.

According to district fire inspector Maximilian Reimoser, 125 helpers have been on duty in the past few days and have done a total of 1150 volunteer hours. The fire brigades Hebertshausen, Karlsfeld, Pasenbach, Pellheim, Röhrmoos, Schwabhausen and Vierkirchen as well as the district fire inspection and the THW local association Dachau were involved. For the connection to the infrastructure of the Siedlerfest-Platz, the emergency services were assisted by three members of the Karlsfeld-Nord settlement community.

Those interested can find more information about the vaccination station and the registration process on the District Office’s website.
