Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg and his Stephanie: Separation! | Entertainment

They were once considered the German Kennedys – now everything is over.

There have always been rumors about a marital crisis, now it’s official. BILD knows: Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg (51) and his wife Stephanie (46) have separated.

The couple’s lawyer, Christian Schertz, confirmed to the German Press Agency: “Yes, it is correct, the couple separated on good terms last winter and will continue to remain close friends.”

The former political dream couple married in 2000. She always stuck by him, even when the then Defense Minister had to resign in 2011 because of his doctoral thesis.

They stuck together tightly, but their love failed

Stephanie zu Guttenberg in a BILD interview about the consequences of the plagiarism scandal: “It was as if the world was collapsing on me. To be honest: I was completely overwhelmed by this situation. A political debate turned into hatred. This hatred was so great at the time that a member of the Bundestag seriously hurled this sentence at my husband: ‘In the past they would have shot you for that.’”

The family then emigrated to the USA for a few years, the couple slowly fought their way back into the public eye: he, among other things, as a presenter, entrepreneur and consultant, she, among other things, as an author and committed campaigner for Internet education for children and young people. A real power couple – or so they believed.
