Karin Henkel stages Kafka’s novel “The Castle” at the Munich Residenztheater – Culture

Franz Kafka died a hundred years ago in June, so 2024 is Kafka’s year, and you can see that in the theater too. At the Residenztheater in Munich, Karin Henkel takes on Franz Kafka’s thickest novel, “The Castle”, and brings it to the stage with power. If you were afraid that you would be presented with many dark, hopeless, night-black and piercingly existentialist performances this year, then you can rest easy after Henkel’s premiere. Of course it’s also dystopian here, but it’s not particularly painful.
