Kaporal officially placed in receivership

According to information from Provenceunsurprisingly, the ready-to-wear group Kaporal, whose head office is in Marseille, was placed this Friday in receivership by the Commercial Court of Marseille, with an observation period of six months.

“For many years, the company has faced unpredictable and unstoppable external elements,” the Marseille brand wrote in a statement on Tuesday, citing the consequences of the demonstrations of “yellow vests”, the Covid-19 pandemic, “ successive strikes”, and the “inflationary shock” due in particular to the war in Ukraine.

Created in 2004

The group’s employees were informed on Monday that the company was going to “request the opening of receivership proceedings for its benefit with the Marseille commercial court”.

“The search for a new investor has so far not succeeded, forcing the company to take a mandatory management decision. Indeed, in facts and figures, the Kaporal group is no longer able to assume the payment of its debts on its own. The company will thus use a legal tool made available to companies facing difficulties,” explains the group.

Created in 2004 by a Marseille family already specialized in jeans, the Kaporal brand now has 113 stores in France, 534 employees and achieved 99 million euros in turnover in 2022.
