Trump must not make sensitive information public

At a first hearing in the trial of Donald Trump for the Capitol attack, Judge Tanya Chutkan issued a strict protective order.
The competent judge in the proceedings against According to the former US President, Donald Trump warned against intimidating witnesses because of the Capitol attack.
“If your client wants to make statements online, they must always bow to the protection and safety of witnesses,” Judge Tanya Chutkan said at a first hearing in the case, according to the Washington Post. If that means Trump can’t say exactly what he wants about Witnesses, then so be it. “I caution you and your client to exercise extreme caution in your public statements about this case.”
Judge issues protective order
At the meeting on Friday in the US capital Washington, the question was whether Trump should be banned from making public certain evidence collected as part of the criminal investigation. After the hearing, the judge issued a so-called protective order that prohibits Trump from publicly communicating sensitive information in the case.
Chutkan thus largely granted a request by the prosecution. Special Counsel Jack Smith had previously argued that Trump’s verbal attacks could target and intimidate witnesses, judges and attorneys.
“Limits on the Statements” of the Defendant
Trump and his lawyers had referred to freedom of speech and the election campaign. The Republican wants to return to the White House in 2024. The judge made it clear that she wanted to keep the campaign out of the courtroom and that Trump’s freedom of speech in a criminal trial was subject to certain rules. There are “limits for the statements” of the accused. Trump should defend himself in the courtroom, not on the internet. The 77-year-old was not present at the meeting in Washington.
Trump is the first ex-president in US history to face criminal charges. Most recently, the Republican was charged with his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. At a hearing at the end of August, it should be clarified when the process should begin in this case.
