Justice grants reprieve to Acropolis Palace, slated for demolition

The diggers will have to wait. Scheduled to start this month, the demolition site of the Acropolis convention center in Nice, wanted by the town hall to continue the Paillon promenade in situ, has been postponed following a court decision. Seized by the social and economic committee (CSE) of the autonomous management for the operation of the center, the court ordered the extension of the information and consultation procedure until February 28.

The CSE demanded details on the consequences that the destruction would have on “the working conditions and employment of employees”. The town hall will have to specify in particular “the measures proposed in terms of training and support” but also “the modifications that may affect the employment contracts”, according to the decision which was rendered last week and which was made public by Nice morning.

“You have to take the time to talk”

The plans of the municipality are in any case not turned upside down, assures the latter in a response sent to 20 Minutes. “It doesn’t bother us at all, we have to take the time for dialogue and we had in any case two months of necessary diagnoses and provided for in the work schedule,” she explains.

And to recall: “We have been discussing very closely with the unions and the agents since the start, within the framework of what is provided for by the Labor Code. We are and will be very attentive to the future of employees”.
