It’s a setback for Brigitte Macron. The Paris court on Wednesday canceled a procedure brought by the first lady. In February 2022, she had subpoenaed two women who had spread the rumor on the Internet that she was a transgender woman. One introduced herself as a “medium”, the other as an “independent journalist”.
In December 2021, the “medium” posted a video on her YouTube channel where she shared the thesis that Brigitte Macron, born Trogneux, never existed, but that her brother took on this identity after changing sex. This false information had ended up being declined in accusations of pedocrime against the first lady.
Ongoing criminal proceedings
The plaintiffs considered themselves victims of an infringement of the right to respect for private life. The video mentioned surgeries that Brigitte Macron would have undergone, claiming that she would not be the mother of her three children, and gave personal information about her brother.
The summons also denounced infringements of image rights for the dissemination of various photographs. In parallel with this civil procedure, Brigitte Macron brought a separate criminal action, with a complaint with a civil action for public defamation, filed on January 31, 2022. This procedure is still ongoing.
