Jürgen Klopp is leaving Liverpool FC at the end of the season: “I’m running out of energy” – Sport

Jürgen Klopp is quitting at the end of the season as team manager of Liverpool FC. “I’m running out of energy. I’ve known for a while that I would have to announce it at some point. I know that I can’t do the job over and over again,” said the 56-year-old in a videowhich the traditional English club published on Friday.

Klopp extended his contract early until 2026 in April 2022. The former master coach of Borussia Dortmund joined Liverpool FC in October 2015. With the club he won, among other things, the Champions League in 2019 and the English championship in 2020.

Klopp, who has repeatedly been linked to the job of national coach, is returning to his original idea. “My plan is that I will stay until 2024 and then it will be: thank you very much!” he often said – and then extended it until 2026. Liverpool are currently leading the Premier League table, are in the League Cup final, in the round of 16 of the Europa League and in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

He could understand that “it’s a shock for a lot of people at this moment when you hear it for the first time,” Klopp said in the video and addressed himself directly to the fans. “Over all these years the respect and love has grown. The least I owe you is the truth – and that is the truth.”
