Jürgen Drews is part of Florian Silbereisen’s “Schlagerfest” tour despite a nervous illness. Another illness almost prevented it.

Pop singer Jürgen Drews (77, “Ein Bett im Kornfeld”) is currently doing the “Schlagerfest.XXL” tour with Florian Silbereisen (40) along with other music stars. His nervous illness, which he made public in early July 2021, does not prevent the Mallorcan by choice from performing. “I have it under control because I can still walk quite well. My legs still carry me. Sometimes I shuffle a bit, but I don’t have any pain,” he says in an interview with “Bild”.

But another illness almost prevented his first tour appearance as part of the music show. “Shortly before the start of the tour, I got Corona and my participation was on the brink,” says the singer. That’s why he “cried like a castle dog” at home, he continues. “I was so looking forward to the tour and I couldn’t bear to have to cancel performances,” said Drews. Luckily he got well in time for the premiere.

Suspected incipient dementia had not been confirmed

In July he had in the “image” interview reported the diagnosis “peripheral polyneuropathy”. First he had been checked for dementia. “I did a dementia test at the neurologist. I wanted to know if I was prone to the disease because my mother had signs of dementia at the end of her life,” Drews said openly at the time. Luckily, his suspicions were not confirmed. However, the doctor then diagnosed the other nervous condition in him.

Because of the illness, he renounced his “Drews pirouette” on stage, which had become very shaky due to the illness, he explained at the time

Even today, the musician doesn’t think about retiring. “The moment I realize that everything is annoying me, I stop. But that’s not the case yet,” he says in the current interview.
