For so many years people had gotten used to the same photo motifs from the national team, Joachim Löw on the sidelines, with or without Hansi Flick, later Hansi Flick without Joachim Löw. Oliver Bierhoff was always in the picture, sometimes standing in front of a team bus with “The Team” written on it, or the cameras caught him in a tournament headquarters in the wilderness or in one of the furthest corners of the respective country or even the entire world. Anyone who said or thought “national team” had no choice: the same people always appeared in their mind’s eye.
