Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has been given another chance at freedom: a London court ruled that he can take action against his extradition to the USA. Not much more than a stage win.
There is a festival atmosphere in front of the Supreme Court on London’s Fleet Street. A large crowd of demonstrators are milling around here; the cameramen from the major media outlets from Al Jazeera to ZDF can hardly find space for their cameras. The police try in vain to keep the street clear in front of the neo-Gothic building with its many battlements and turrets. Protesters hold yellow placards that read “Please beep your horn!” – Please honk! – high on the side of the road, a surprising number of drivers follow this request.
