After 19 years as a spokeswoman for the tagesschau, Judith Rakers is taking her leave at her own request in order to concentrate more on her entrepreneurial activities. She will be seen for the last time on January 31st in the 8 p.m. edition.

“After 19 successful and exciting years at tagesschau, it was with a heavy heart that I decided to leave,” says Rakers. “It’s time to focus my life on other projects, to further expand my entrepreneurial activities and to tackle new things for which there hasn’t been enough time in addition to the news shift.”

Judith Rakers was born in Paderborn in 1976. After studying communication sciences, she started at NDR in 2004 and initially presented the Hamburg Journal.

Since 2005 she has also been in front of the camera as a spokeswoman for the tagesschau. It was first seen in the main edition at 8 p.m. in March 2008. Since 2010 she has hosted the talk show alongside Giovanni di Lorenzo 3after9 and has presented numerous reports as a presenter for NDR television over the past ten years.

No successor

Initially there will be no successor for Judith Rakers at the tageschau. Other speakers for the main edition remain Jens Riewa, Susanne Daubner, Julia-Niharika Sen, Thorsten Schröder and Constantin Schreiber.
