Judith Hermann’s poetry lectures – culture

Those who missed Judith Hermann’s Frankfurt poetry lectures last May can now read them in book form. And you will quickly notice how much this Berlin narrator, who is often exuberantly praised and cultically revered, but also maliciously ridiculed, has meanwhile refined her suggestive methods. In her seventh book, after four volumes of short stories and two short novels within 25 years, the now 53-year-old author presents the strengths and weaknesses of her laconic narrative style with such confidence that the often-criticised deficits of her writing appear as its real merits.
