Judgment against Lina E. in Dresden: The state does not tolerate vigilantism – opinion

The high prison sentence for Lina E. is justifiable, the state cannot tolerate this kind of violence. And yet the verdict arouses mixed feelings: why don’t prosecutors in Saxony act with the same severity against right-wing thugs?

Does something speak against it when the rule of law takes on people who think they can play anti-fascist vigilantes – and not by guarding and helping in front of refugee homes or by securing left-wing concerts in inhospitable areas, always ready to defend themselves in self-defence defend, but by going on revenge raids at night? As enforcers of their own laws? At dawn in front of private homes, armed with hammers or batons?
