Judgment after fatal speeding accident final – Bavaria

After a fatal accident, a speeder has to go to prison for more than six years. The 28-year-old withdrew an application for revision on Thursday, said a spokesman for the Augsburg district court. The verdict with a prison sentence of six years and three months for a prohibited motor vehicle race resulting in death is thus final. Immediately after the verdict on November 17, the 28-year-old said when asked by the presiding judge that he accepted the guilty verdict – but after his lawyers intervened, he withdrew this statement and left an appeal open. Later, the lawyers submitted a corresponding application to the district court. A week later they pulled him back.

The accused drove his tuned car around 200 kilometers per hour on a state road near Monheim in northern Swabia – about twice as fast as allowed. He lost control of his car after a crest, threw the car into the oncoming lane and into the vehicle of a 54-year-old. The mother of four had no chance and died immediately. The co-accused passenger of the 28-year-old was sentenced to a suspended sentence of one year and ten months for aiding and abetting the crime.
