Journalists from Russia and Belarus want to go to Berlin – media

Much has been written about German hesitation since Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine in February. Most of the time it’s about arms deliveries, and not every shrill finding is backed up by facts. In another area, however, the findings are clearer: the question is whether the federal government is doing enough to offer journalists who have fled Russia and Belarus a safe haven. A place, perhaps a new home, where they can safely continue their essential work. Because for the people in Russia and Belarus, their reporting is currently the only alternative to the lies and hatred that Russian state broadcasters in particular spread every new day.
