Journalism: language critic Wolf Schneider is dead

The well-known journalist and language critic Wolf Schneider died on Friday night in Starnberg near Munich. This was shared by Schneider’s family Süddeutsche Zeitung With. He was 97 years old. Born in Erfurt, the author headed the Henri Nannen School in Hamburg for many years, where he taught entire generations of journalists and thus had a decisive influence on German journalism. Schneider is also known to a wider audience for his many non-fiction books on language and style, such as the bestseller “Deutsch für Profis”.
