Everything was already decided between Roma and Empoli at the break. Mourinho afterwards had an explanation as to why the guests were still allowed to score.

Roma coach Jose Mourinho didn’t blame his team for conceding goals in the 4-2 win over Empoli. The Portuguese jokingly found an interesting explanation for the fact that the second half went 2-0 to the opponent.

“The second half was for the TV viewers, who would have turned off if we’d gone 5-0,” he said DAZN.

Mourinho on Roma win: ‘A great achievement’

Roma scored in the first half from Tammy Abraham (2), Nicolo Zaniolo and Sergio Oliveira before Empoli closed the gap again with two goals. “Yes, we could have controlled the game better, but it’s still a great achievement here,” said Mourinho.

Roma climbed up to sixth place in Serie A with their third competitive win in a row.
