Jorge González got a new job. The longtime “Let’s Dance” jury member is now doing the same job in another country.

Jorge González (54) has been an integral part of the “Let’s Dance” jury for almost ten years. Now the native Cuban is moving to another European country with the same job: Slovakia. As he announces on his Instagram accounthe will be on the jury for the local version of “Let’s Dance” from March 6th.

The 54-year-old has a special history with the country: It was his first station when he came to Europe from Cuba in the 1980s. He studied nuclear ecology there. “Ever since I lived as a student in Bratislava in the 1980s, I have fallen in love with Slovakia, the people and the culture,” he writes. “Slovakia is part of my identity and I cannot describe how happy I am.” It feels like “coming home”. González is optimistic that the language will work out well in Slovakia: “My friends there say that I speak Slovak better than German”, he explains “Bild am Sonntag”.

The Slovak version of “Let’s Dance” is always broadcast live on TV on Sundays, so González is also included in the German edition (Fridays, 8:15 p.m. on RTL).
