Actress Jonshel Alexander was shot dead at the age of 22. She was known from the movie “Beasts of the Southern Wild”.

Mourning for Jonshel Alexander. The actress was shot dead in New Orleans last Saturday evening (November 27th) at the age of 22. That reports among other things the US industry portal “Deadline” citing the New Orleans Police Department. According to this, Alexander was in a vehicle that evening with a man who was not named. Shots were fired at the car while it was driving. Both inmates were hit.

According to the police, the man is said to have driven himself to the hospital. However, any help came too late for the 22-year-old. She succumbed to her injuries on the scene. The police have started the investigation. Further details about the crime are not yet known.

Jonshel Alexander was best known for her role as Joy Strong in the movie “Beasts of the Southern Wild”. The fantasy drama was nominated four times for an Oscar in 2012. Alexander was twelve years old at the time. Her acting colleague Quvenzhané Wallis (18), who played the main role of Hushpuppy in “Beasts of the Southern Wild”, says goodbye on Instagram: “When we were filming, we were always together and I wish I could go back in time to see you again. I love you. You will be missed by many.” She also shared several photos from the set at the time.

After the film, Jonshel Alexander withdrew from the public and devoted himself to her graduation. She leaves behind a one-year-old daughter.
