Johnny Depp lost his Pirates of the Caribbean role over Heard’s domestic abuse allegations. His agent confirmed that.

In Johnny Depp’s (58) defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard (36), his former Hollywood agent Christian Carino testified on Wednesday. He confirmed the actor’s claim that he was axed from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise over Heard’s allegations of domestic violence.

“I think it has to do with the allegations that Amber made,” Carino said in a video statement according to “MailOnline”. Carino, who was also Heard’s agent, further explained that while Disney never explicitly said Depp had to go because of the allegations, it was “meant”.

Previously, Depp testified on his own behalf, blaming Heard’s allegations for the loss of his lucrative role as Captain Jack Sparrow.

Depp denied ever physically abusing Heard and claimed she was the one who frequently engaged in violence.

Questioned about Elon Musk

Carino, Lady Gaga’s (36) former fiance, was also asked about Heard’s relationship with billionaire Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk (50), which followed her 2017 divorce from Depp.

Depp’s attorneys read text messages between Carino and Heard dated August 2017. “I’m processing the breakup. I hate when things get public. I’m so sad,” Heard wrote in a message about the end of her relationship with Musk. “You weren’t in love with him and you’ve told me a thousand times that you’re just filling the space. Why should you be sad when you weren’t in love with him?” Carino replied.

Heard said, “I know, but I wanted time to grieve and recover at my own pace.” When asked by Depp’s attorney whether Heard was referring to Musk or Depp, Carino said, “I don’t know.”

In another email in the same conversation, she wrote, “I hate that a man let me fall on thorns alone again.” Carino then advised his client, “You could avoid all of this if you stopped dating super-famous people. You can be with a big man who isn’t famous.” When asked what he meant by the email, Carino told the court he meant to tell Heard, “If you don’t like your personal life being covered in the press, don’t hang out with famous people.”

Second trial of Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp has sued Amber Heard for $50 million over an article she published in The Washington Post. In it, she claimed to be a victim of domestic violence. According to Variety, Heard filed a $100 million counterclaim against her ex.

Depp and Heard began dating in early 2012 after meeting on the set of The Rum Diary. The Hollywood stars got married in 2015. The marriage lasted only 15 months. The actor lost a defamation lawsuit against the newspaper “The Sun” in Great Britain in 2020. The newspaper had described Depp in an article as a “wife beater”. Depp has denied all allegations of domestic violence.
