Joey Kelly has once again set a world record as part of the RTL telethon. And the donation amount is also impressive.
As usual, the sports-loving musician Joey Kelly (50) was involved in the RTL telethon – also on RTL+ – once again set a world record. For a whole day, Kelly struggled through an American football course with 17 teams. All participants should cover a total of 4,000 kilometers.

“In the ’24h American Football Challenge’ you face a very special football course that I have to complete around the clock, 24 hours a day. Over a distance of around 200 meters you have to do various tasks at several stations, such as target throws or passing and catching a ball, Kelly previously explained on Instagram. “If everyone involved manages more than 4,000 kilometers within 24 hours, we are assured of the title of ‘longest relay running distance on the football course (24 hours, team)’ – certified by the Record Institute for Germany (RID).”
And that’s exactly what all participants achieved. The broadcaster said it was 4,454 kilometers in the end. According to Kelly, the idea for the task came from RTL Charity general manager Wolfram Kons (59) and his colleagues. In 2022, Kelly and 21 teams broke a world record in a “24h Climbing Challenge”.
More than 20 million euros for a good cause
According to a statement, the broadcaster collected more than 20.1 million euros for needy children this year with the help of viewers and partners of the telethon. “This donation result makes me very happy, because now we can sustainably help so many children in Germany and around the world,” explained Kons in a statement after the 28th edition of the TV charity format. “I say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart and promise that we will show exactly where every euro donated goes throughout the year.”
