Once again, Joey Kelly wants to take on a mammoth sporting task in the service of a good cause: play football for 24 hours.

TV jock Joey Kelly (50) will take on a unique task as part of the RTL telethon. In the “24h American Football Challenge”, as the name suggests, the musician has to face a football course over around 200 meters for 24 hours. Kelly and the other participants have to demonstrate their best Tom Brady skills at various stations.

In addition to money for a good cause, a record could also be set: If Kelly, who is competing on his son Luke’s team, and the 17 other teams manage to cover over 3,500 kilometers within the time frame, the title will be “longest relay -Running track on their football course.

Pietro Lombardi also helps

It’s not an easy task for Joey Kelly, who has already proven himself as a celebrity high diver and single wok world champion, among other things: “To be honest, I’ve never had a football in my hand until a few weeks ago. So it won’t be an easy challenge for me,” the 50-year-old is quoted as saying in a press release. RTL Charity general manager Wolfram Kons is meanwhile convinced of Kelly’s abilities and quickly names him the “quarterback of the hearts”.

The challenge starts at the same time as the telethon itself – on Thursday (November 16th) at 6 p.m. In addition to Kelly, Pietro Lombardi (31) and his fiancée, Laura Maria Rypa, are also serving the good cause. As part of the event, the two visited the premature baby ward at the University Hospital in Cologne. On November 17, 2023, the singer and his partner want to advertise for financial support in the RTL studio.

Last year, when Joey Kelly set a world record with the “24h Climbing Challenge”, the celebrities collected a record sum: over 41 million euros were raised in 2022.
