Despite the great uncertainty caused by the war in Ukraine, the demand for labor from companies in Germany has risen to a record high. The job index of the Federal Employment Agency (BA) climbed by two points to 138 points in April and thus to the highest level since the beginning of the data series in 2005. The end of most corona restrictions and the spring revival almost led to an increase in demand compared to March all sectors. The biggest percentage gains were in hospitality, which has long suffered from lockdowns and other coronavirus restrictions, business services and manufacturing. In transport and logistics as well as in trade, demand has also increased by more than half within a year.
